Actually, the big square under the IC has no name, nor it is connected to
GND... I manually connected it using the VIAS. So I can leave it like
this, that will work, right?
No that will not work, cause the SMD pad will get a signal name wether you
set it or not.
You should edit your device so that the smd will get a pin that you can
connect to GND. It could be a separate symbol with the pin direction set to
'power' and named 'GND' (and set add feature of this symbol to suiteable
value - rtfm). This will hide the gnd connection, although personally I
don't like hidden stuff.

I still don't understand that error... there is this ESD diode, with 3
terminals (two of them connected to GND in schematic). I want to put vias on
these pads directly to GND, but it keeps generating overlap error. But if I
create a via name GND on the side of the diode, it connects the pad to the
via... what is wrong?

If you put vias ON smd pads, then you will always get drc error. I have been
into the same problem when using a pcb battery holder where I wanted the smd
to be the tallest point on the board, where I wanted the via inside the pad.
I guess there is no other solution than to just approve that error.
