Linux: opening old projects report inconsistant board and schematics due to net name conversion of !name.

Ok, you're up to date. Do you still have the original (older, V4) files,

for a test? If you open them directly with the current version, signal

names should be converted correctly (as mentioned, that bug has been

fixed). If they are not, please report it here (or in betatest).

 

 

The files have been opened and I have written 'wr' in the command line

thinking that this would save the file in the new format/structure.

 

I have now tried to update the file with a new frame in v5.2. This version

imports the original design without coughing up errors about

inconsistancies. I update the drawing frame to a new one with global

attributes and a frame.

I save the design and reopen the design with the beta v5.81 (this allows

both versions to peacefully coexist.) Now the design is still consistant.

 

I guess that the structure was not re-written unless a largish change was

introduced.

 

So to sum up:

The older linux versions of v5 import fine.

The current linux version does not.

 

I will send you the design files which have been problematic.

 

However, if you have made changes meanwhile, you'll probably have to

rename all those signals/nets manually. Hopefully they aren't too

many... (Once the automatic conversion to the V5 nomenclature has been

done, there is no chance to fix it with an even newer V5.)

 

I have opened more old designs with v5.8 and they seem fine. This confirms

that the conversion is done correctly from older designs.

It may be that I have opened and saved the problem design with a version

that incorrectly modified the net names. It is also good to have a work

around.

Open with an older version, 5.2 for example. Update one of the libraries,

this may only work if the library to update introduces changes. Save the

design.

I think that must have been the cause. As I mentioned, that bug has been

fixed meanwhile - I assume that you unluckily opened and saved these

files with one of the buggy versions inbetween.

From the history notes, V5.6.1 fixed handling of backslashes, and 5.7.1

fixed handling of exclamation marks. So your problem was probably caused

by opening your V4 files with a version prior to 5.6.1.
