[Suggestions]Create oblong pad and oblong hole with any dimension

Hello,

 

I have a suggestion for you. You should have a function that allows users can create oblong pad and oblong hole with any dimension like Orcad and Altium, for through-hole components. There are many components need oblong pad and oblong holes nowadays. For examples, this component need oblong pad and oblong hole.

With Orcad, users can adjust pad with and pad height of oblong pad. Sometimes, users only need oblong pad long and narrow, not too big like EALGE does.

With Altium, users can create hole, pad with any shape.

I think you really must have this function in new version if you don't want users use Altium replace EAGLE because you only don't have this function. Don't tell that the boardhouse can not create oblong hole to the users! They can!

 

A topic was created on Mar 10th, 2015, but there is no one reply that topic. [WISH] EAGLE has pad height, pad width option in new version

    Hi,

     

    For the oblong hole, we already can do it (metalized or not)  in eagle but it's not very simple (manually add drawing in milling layer, indications for PCB house to indicate that which milling line need to be plated and which don't  (there is only one layer for milling !) etc...)

     

    For the pad it self, we already can produce any shape, just by drawing a copper polygon around your pad !

     

    But you're right, the pad configuration could support little enhancement that would make it easier, and powerful too (separate diameter for top/bottom, separate Mask option for top/bottom etc...)
