Routing Variants?

mprowe@peritonlane.net
mprowe@peritonlane.net over 10 years ago

When I start a new design I get 22 entries in the Routing Variants dialog.

In time these reduce - sometimes to as low as four.

Why is this happening? I am not intentionally asking for fewer - even if I

knew how to!

Has the system "learnt" that many of the variants are not applicable and is

reducing the auto-route time for me?

Regards, Martin

    Hi Jorge,

Thank you. However, is that the whole story? As the default, I have the

effort set to "high" in all cases.

In (just) two designs I have just checked, this is what I find.

    Case 1: Effort High - Variants 22. Effort Low - Variants 4

    Case 2: Effort High - Variants 4. Effort Low - Variants 3

So, yes, some effect. But why does Case 2 only give 4 variants when the

    Effort is High?

    Regards, Martin

How many layers do you route?

Do you have set the "auto grid" option?

Are there preferred directions set or is it also "auto"?

    Is the TopRouter variant active?

All these is taken into consideration.
