Non-Existent Keepout

Hi,

I'm using a back-rev version of Eagle, 6.5.  I've designed a library part

for a non-standard inductor with an odd shape and height.  There are only 3

items in the library for this part: 2 pads and a top keepout layer.

I've placed all my components on the board, did an ERC and a DRC, and there

are no errors.  Then I routed the board OK.  I was just moving around some

component names so they aren't on top of vias when I noticed a keep out

area on the top of my board.  After scratching my head, I realized the keep

out is from the inductor, but the inductor is placed on the bottom of the

board.  I confirmed that the keepout on the bottom of the mirrored part is

there, and that if I move the inductor the top keep out moves along with

it.

There's a FET sitting on top of the top keep out, so obviously the keep out

isn't doing anything, especially since DRC didn't complain.

Any ideas what might be causing this?  I'm guessing this is a display

problem and not a design problem.

Thanks,

Dave

    Hi Dave

You may not be seeing what you think you are seeing. Is it really a

tKeepout? It is a different size to the bottom keepout.

    Try a couple of things:

    Clear the DRC errors

Type ERRORS CLEAR into the command line in the board editor.

    Did it disappear?

Turn off the tKeepout layer in the board editor.

    Did it disappear?

In the library turn on all layers.

    Is it there?

That's all I have right now.

If you have a paid version of v6.5 you should upgrade to the last

    version 6.6  here ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/eagle/program/
