Non-Existent Keepout

Hi,

I'm using a back-rev version of Eagle, 6.5.  I've designed a library part

for a non-standard inductor with an odd shape and height.  There are only 3

items in the library for this part: 2 pads and a top keepout layer.

I've placed all my components on the board, did an ERC and a DRC, and there

are no errors.  Then I routed the board OK.  I was just moving around some

component names so they aren't on top of vias when I noticed a keep out

area on the top of my board.  After scratching my head, I realized the keep

out is from the inductor, but the inductor is placed on the bottom of the

board.  I confirmed that the keepout on the bottom of the mirrored part is

there, and that if I move the inductor the top keep out moves along with

it.

There's a FET sitting on top of the top keep out, so obviously the keep out

isn't doing anything, especially since DRC didn't complain.

Any ideas what might be causing this?  I'm guessing this is a display

problem and not a design problem.

Thanks,

Dave

I should have added some pictures yesterday.  Here they are:

1 - Top and bottom view.  The inductor is sitting on the bottom side,

underneath Q2.  The outlines of the top keepout in red and the bottom

    keepout in blue are visible.

    (I couldn't insert a 3rd image here.  It's called 1.png.)

2 - Top view only.  Top keepout is still visible, and is not valid.

3 - Bottom view only.  Inductor and bottom keepout are visible, and no top

    keepout.

And just to be sure there weren't both top and bottom keepouts in the

library part, I deleted the "top" keepout (bottom keepout when the part is

mirrored to the bottom of the board), then moved the pads to make sure

there were no other hidden elements to the part.  The only elements of the

part are the 2 pads (each an SMD pad + some polygons to give the pad it's

odd shape) and the one keep out rectangle.

The pictures clarify what you say, but what would really be useful is a

copy of your library and board files.
