Air wire problems

1.  When I run ratsnest it says I still have 11 air wires, but I can't see

them.  Is there any way to highlight them?  I assume they're little stubs

left over from my lame routing.

 

2.  In the attached image, what are those gray hatched circles at the top?

I assume they're related to vias I placed and later ripped up (they're in

the middle of a trace I've turned off to make them visible), but I can't

get them to go away, either with ripup or delete (which generates an

error).  How can I get rid of them?  I was going to ask about the odd air

wire going off to the right, but I fixed it.

    First thing I do is set the airwire color to bright magenta.  That

    seems to be the most visible color against Eagle's background.

     

    Next, turn off the visibility of the routed layers and look for little

    pink dashes and lines on your screen.  Turn the layers back on, one at

    a time to find the affected area.

     

    Realize that Eagle's routing and airwire detection is really

    stoooopid.  For example, if I lay down some copper and then put 4 vias

    in the square touching each other and obviously connected, Eagle has

    no clue.  It flags air wires until I route (invisible) wires between

    the vias, give the copper the desired signal name and optionally

    connect it to where it needs to go.

     

    I use this technique to say, connect 4 current shunts in parallel.

    Easily drawn.  Difficult to satisfy Eagle.

    Yup, that's what I ended up doing.  Works great for finding the little

    stubs of airwires, but actually eliminating them, as you point out, can be

    infuriating.
