Hole in stencil layer

Hello,

I have to provide a gerber file for stencil manufacturer house.

In the brd view I created a layer named "stencil" where I defined the

contour of the stencil. Then from CAM processor it's easy to add the

aperture from the cream layer(s).

 

I also need to add some hole for the SMT stencil printer.

These holes should be present only on the stencil gerber file, and not

in the PCB ones (they are outside the PCB of course).

 

Is there a convenient way to handle this?

I wouldn't create a second brd file just to add the holes...

    Hello Marco,

     

    I hope you're doing well. The easiest solution would be to draw a filled

    in circle on the stencil layer. Click the circle command, set the width

    to zero(this will make it fill).

    The PCB house should not recognise the filled circle is a hole. Your

    drill file specifies where holes go.

     

    If you are sending the eagle board file and not gerbers, they may

    calculate the board size as bigger because you have objects beyond the

    board edges. Hence the cost of the board may go up.

     

    That's what needs checking.

     

    If this is true there is a way around it using assembly variants.

    Make device that has a package with the filled circles on the stencil

    layer and a symbol you would like for the schematic. Then make these

    into simple device. Using assembly variants you essentially turn on and

    off those stencil holes because you turn off the device/package when set

    the assembly variant and save.

     

    You can do all this without a user defined stencil layer. Just use the

    cream layer

    I will send gerber file, not the EAGLE board one.

    And for stencil is a separate order, so I will upload only the stencil

    layer.

    If I understand correcly I need two variants. One with all components

    but the stencil one, and another with only the stencil.
