Eagle 7.5.0 - Retina 4k HiDPi not working at all on Mac OS

Dear Internet and CadSoft,

I have been waiting for then new Eagle to come out with HiDPi support for Mac OS,

I was super excited to see that you now support hi-res display but only after installing I was  more than disappointed:

Text, writing and actual editor doesn't seem to be in hi res mode, at all I can do is to make icons larger but this doesn't translate to clear and crisp picture when designing PCB's.

Please could you let me know if this is only a bug? Or a problem with my installation

I have selected larger icons and vector text relaunched eagle, and its still look like a program from windows '95 common this is 2016 and i would really like my fonts, lines and shape to be nice and crisp....

Please let me know you you are planning to support retina displays in the near future?

    Hi Eryk,

I don't think it's a bug, I think something got lost in translation to

the devs. At the moment we don't have a Retina display on hand and it's

likely the devs thought that it was enough to have scalable icons.

Thanks to reports like yours though, we have a spanking new Retina

display on the way and this should be cleared up shortly.

    Sorry about the inconvenience.

    Best Regards,

    Jorge Garcia

    Hi,

Thank you for you reply, I am very impressed with your reply,

I will try to push my company to upgrade to professional once HiDPI is sorted out!

    Thank you

I guess the gfx artifacts are not just related to the "[apple] retina"

displays. Any high res normal dpi mode has issues, like my 4k 40"

running in normal DPI. Look at the B's in particular, but also the

captital S has issues. (Running win10)

As soon as the texts are upscaled for better readability on the high res

displayes there is something going wrong. We hope to have a solution

probably with the next beta version.

Yep they have a lot to do to get their HiDPI support up to scratch. It

seems they thought just scaling icons was enough....

It's vaguely more useful a feature in windows but makes zero difference in

OSX because the OS detects Eagle as non retina compliant and tells it a

lower resolution.... I actually have it working in a Windows 10 VM, set to

the native Retina resolution, scaled the icons in Eagle and scaled the

fonts in Windows and I'm almost getting the benefits of the Retina display,

but it's not quite right still.... And on Windows so not where I want all

    my work....

They also need to do something with their font rendering as they seem to

not be doing any anti-aliasing on text so even on a large display with a

reasonable font size the fonts are not smooth and they change appearance as

    the zoom level changes.

Lots for them to work on.... I really hope we don't have to wait for v8 or

beyond for this to be fixed....

    Best Regards,

    Rachael
