    Hi again Richard,

     

    I didn´t explain well.

    I´m using Eagle v6 and as you said i have got connected one pin to various pads in the device editor. Now in the board layout i want to have a cooper track which goes from one element to these pads. The easy way is joining the element to one pad (of the connector) using the route command and then to do the same with the rest of pads(its a connector and these pads are very close one to another). But to make it " more beautiful" i though to join the element to one pad using route command and then with the rect make a rectangle joinig the four pads.

     

    It doesn´t work.

     

    Do you understand me now?

    Are you working with EAGLE V6? If yes, you can connect one pin to two or more pads in the device editor. You could also use a POLYGON (no RECT) in order to draw a special pad shape or to combine two pads.

    In Eagle 6.1.0, is there a way to get a printed ERC (and later a DRC) report? Text, PDF, or HTML would be acceptable.

    no I am sorry, currently not possible. Maybe you can make a screen shot of the ERC/DRC window?

    If the board manufacturer has to mill oblong holes, you have to draw the milling contour of oblong holes in a separate layer. Usually this is layer 46, Milling.
    The milling contour for components that need oblong holes can be drawn with WIRE (and possibly ARC) with a very fine wire width near or even 0 in the Package Editor. Take a pad that has a drill diameter which lies inside the milling contour, or SMDs, for example in Top and Bottom layer, as basis for the oblong hole.
    In case of a multilayer board you should draw a WIRE in the used inner layers at the position of the oblong holes so that it covers the milling contour and leaves a kind of restring around the opening. Please inform your board manufacturer that they have to take care on the milling data drawn in this layer.

     

    what type of CAM job to use in order that gerber files show properly the slots to be milled?

    You have to add a further sectino to your CAM job that exports Gerber data for layer 46 Milling.

    There is still a problem if the associated .brd file is not available.  In that case Eagle pops up only the Control Panel and the Schematic  editor. Focus is on the Control Panel so the command does not execute  until you click on the Schematic Editor window. That is a bit of an edge  case for me which I can work around by having a .brd file.


    Yes, the command  edit  .sch  needs a board file. If there is no board this could make trouble as well. I will forward this matter to the development team, because it really seems to be a timing problem of opening the editor windows.....

    I´m worried about that because you cannot insert the name in the rect, so i don´t know if it will work.

    Hi,

    I have designed a board using ALLEGRO ACS750*CA-050 (Farnell: 1791390) component for which I found the device in the Allegro library.

    This component requires two slots PTH of 2x4mm.

    Eurocircuit is the present manufacturer for our boards.

    It seems that the interpretation of the files sent to the manufacturer does not show properly the slots shape.

    The boards arrived with pairs of holes intead of the slots.

    Question 1 : how to represent a slot that needs to be milled and platted inside, what layer, what line width etc..?

    Question 2 : what type of CAM job to use in order that gerber files show properly the slots to be milled?

    Hi Richard,

    could you modify your command line, so that the schematic file is explicitely loaded before the printing starts?

     

    It looks like this then:

     

    eagle  -C "edit .sch; print 0.59 SHEETS ALL LANDSCAPE PAPER Letter FILE .pdf;" mydesign.sch

     

    That does the trick.

    Hello Richard,

     

    i think that there is a genereal problem in 6.1 with placing parts - also if

    I copy elements using COPY it is quite difficult to place part correctly -

    it tends to snap to the neighbouring grid position (in all directions), so

    sometimes I have to undo and try again several times until I place element

    correctly. 

    Currently I am considering going back to 5.11, because I think 6.1 is still

    not mature, but because od data incompatibility it would mean loss of a lot

    of work - BTW, I think that it would be great to have the possibility to

    back-convert the data or to have the option to save binary too (also because

    of much smaller files).
