What are the differences between ULP and SCR files in EAGLE?

Michael
Michael over 14 years ago

Is there anyone knows the dfferences between these two file types? I learned that both types are executable under EAGLE to realize specific purpose, but how about their syntax? Is that ture the ULP is just used to generate SCR, and actually the SCR is the one that is executed in EAGLE?

Are they are both C-like program?

Anybody here could kindly define them? Thanks a lot!

    Hi Michael,

    a script file is a text file that contains EAGLE commands in the common EAGLE syntax. You can edit it with a text editor. For example:

    Grid mm 1 off;
    Set Wire_Bend 0;
    Layer Dimension;
    Wire 0  (0 0) (160 100) (0 0);
    Layer Top;
    wire 2  (20 -1) (-1 20);
    wire  (140 -1) (161 20);
    wire (20  101) (-1  80);
    Set Wire_Bend 4;
    wire (161 80) (140 101);
    Layer Bottom;
    Set Wire_Bend 0;
    wire 2  (20 -1) (-1 20);
    wire  (140 -1) (161 20);
    wire (20  101) (-1  80);
    Set Wire_Bend 4;
    wire (161 80) (140 101);
    Grid Last;
    Window Fit;

    This draw a board contour.

    The EAGLE User Language offers access to the internal EAGLE data structure, to external files or for example to web sites. In writing a C-like program, which is a text file, you have possibilities to write converters for exporting data from EAGLE or importing something into EAGLE, you can write at least your own tools for certain routines, use dialogs for convenient access and execution and so on. A User Language Program can create script files, as well of course.

    Regards,

    Richard
