Spreading parts across differents sheets...

Hi everybody!

I'm having some troubles here when trying to do some tasks in eagle. I'm currently working with a free version of Eagle (4.16r2 Light).

The problem comes when I try to use diferent parts of the same component in different sheets. I work with relays and in order to keep organized the sch, i would need if possible, to have the coil command circuit in one sheet, and the contacts part in other different page. I have tried to cut and paste the parts I want to be in the other sheet ,previously deleting the selected parts so I dont have duplicated parts... but Eagle don't care and duplicate them wherever I paste them...

I would appreciate any suggestion!!!

    Hello Richard,

to spread components over several sheets, you have to use the INVOKE command. Activate INVOKE and type in the part name  in the command line. Hit <enter> and a menu appears that shows you the available gates of the part.

    Regards,

    Richard

Hi there! Thanks for answering so soon!

I tried what you say and works perfectly!!... The problem is that the sch is already done... and there are a big number of parts already placed... so I guess that redraw it wouldn't count as the last option... image.

You could move the component from one sheet to another without loosing the layout. Simply do GROUP to select the part (even if it is one single element, then use MOVE and a right mouse click into the drawing (the objects follow the mouse cursor now), click onto the sheet into the preview where you want to place the objects and click to place them.

Hi Richard, I was investigating and I realised that my version of Eagle does not support what you suggest... which is a pitty because it seems to be a really good improvement... but I guess I have no choice and I have to stick to this older version... any other suggestion?

    Thanks!

    Richard.-

What's the EAGLE version you are working with?

Is it version 5.x? If yes, go to the Options/User Interface menu and activate "Sheet thumbnails".
