Mouse wheel zooming

Just loaded V6.4.  Whenever I try to pan by holding down the wheel (center button), it starts zooming.  This is new behavior; it does not happen in previous versions of Eagle.  Rotation of the wheel zooms in or out normally, but holding down the center button shouldn't affect the zoom.  Any ideas?

What I think is happening:  My mouse has side-to-side scrolling.  Internally, there are 3 microswitches.  One is activated when you push the wheel down; this is the middle mouse button and must be held down to pan.  The other two switches, activated by slightly pushing the wheel to one side or the other,  shouldn't do anything, and in V4 & 5, did nothing.  In V6, however, Eagle seems to recognize those buttons, but instead of side-to-side scrolling, they zoom in and out, just like rotating the wheel.  It is almost impossible to push the wheel down to pan without also activating one of the other switches; thus, when you pan, it also zooms.  This is a real pain and a productivity killer.

I temporarily solved the problem by switching to an old mouse without the side-to-side scrolling feature.  But I shouldn't have to do that.  My regular mouse works fine in all previous versions of Eagle.  Why was this behavior changed, and is it possible to change it back, or must I stay with V5 in order to use my regular mouse?  My mouse is a Logitech M505; it has no other buttons outher than left, right, and wheel.

    Hi,

one of our customers had a similar problem with the Logitech mouse. He told me there is a program named " setpoint " that allows to configure the mouse buttons correctly. Then it works as expected. setpoint should be available from the Logitech web site.

    HTH

    Regards,

    Richard

    Hi Richard

I installed SetPoint from Logitech.  It is a work-around, not a fix.  You can select each button and assign a task.  If you select the left and right scroll buttons (one at a time), select 'other' as a desired task, it will give you a list of 'other' actions.  One is "do nothing".  Do that for each button, and it works correctly.

Problem comes when I want to switch to other apps that use the side-to-side scrolling feature.  I have to launch SetPoint again and select "use defaults".  Going back to Eagle I need to go into SetPoint again and repeat the procedure.

Jorge has already identified the problem; apparently Eagle V6 looks at the info coming from the mouse differently than it did in V5.  The question is, why?  And can it be returned to the V5 mouse action without screwing something else up?

SetPoint, for now, allows me to use my cordless mouse, but having to switch mouse actions between Eagle and everything else doesn't make any sense, especially since it used to work correctly.

I certainly appreciate the help, but this is a bug in Eagle, and I'd like to see it fixed.

    Thanks

    Bruce Herrick
