ERC Error Different connections pin and pad.

I've done a few boards before and all worked fine. Today I changed the pad sizes for a diode and put a small pad next to one pad for a direction pointer. 

When I updated all, all seemed ok, however the ERC gives Different connections on D1 pin and pad 2 (N$11 and N$18)

 

I haven't worked with N's before so I'm not sure what to do. N$11 connects a resistor to the diode. Not sure where N$18 is.

 

Along the same lines I have a warning POWER on IC1 VCC connected to N$20. it is correct but do I have to tell N$20 it is a power line ?

    Did you make the change in the schematic with the board closed? This is the usual culprit for consistency errors. You can show where your nets are in the schematic / board by doing: SHOW N$11 or SHOW N$18 from the command line. Then change the board and / or schematic until they match again.

    No you don't need to do anything. It does the same when you have a power pin named for example VCC and you connect it to a global rail named say +5V, again it's correct but it'll whinge about that too. In the ERC you can select this error and click 'Approve' and then it won't whinge about it again

    I did have the board and schematic open. I closed the lot, deleted the diode and reinserted it and all came right.

     

    Whoa, the show is great, even does the board and this is great for checking power and earth lines.

     

    Is there a way to highlight unlaid tracks on the PCB? I know there is the thin white line but I missed one tiny line on the bottom of a board and I had already sent the file to the PCB co.

    ERC does not highlight this.
