Area/Room information

Hello,

 

is it possible to draw a rectangle with a given name?

And all parts, which are inside this rectangle, I need in ULP.

 

Example:

I draw HDMI and LAN connections with Eagle. The parts should be placed in "rooms". In the example "1.012 and 1.023.

 

Now i need in ULP for each part the "room" name.

EXT-1 is in room 1.012 (for example)

 

So how can I draw areas/rectangles/... which I can check via ULP, which parts are inside?

 

Have someone an idea?

    Look at UL_INSTANCE. You should be able to loop through all the instances of parts to find all the x/y positions and assign them to rooms.

    How about using modules?

     

    You could create a module for a room type. Then identical rooms could be instantiations of the same module, different rooms would be a different module. All rooms would have have all their instances prefixed with the module ID. You could then use this information in your ULP somehow to extract the information you need with the desired structure.

    Hello,

     

    yes, I thinking also about modules ... but it seems the module show no preview in the main Schematic?

    I need one big view with all components for overview.

     

    Or is it possible, that a module show the parts?

    You are right, it wont show the contents of each module....

     

    Ok, how are your bounding boxes drawn? Nets with a long dash line style and a thick width? If so how about you give them net names to match the rooms then use the ULP to get the X and Y bounding extents of each room and then compare the X and Y location of each component in the room with those extents to work out which room they are in?

    But can´t find the "Position" values in ULP.
