Defining my own table in schematic capture

chwast
chwast over 7 years ago

Hello,

I am sorry for maybe trivial question, but could you help me to find the answer where I can find a description how to define and include my own Table for the schematic? I can pull the templates but I would like to change several elements like company logo etc.. How I can do it?

Thank you in advance and sorry for a trouble.

With Best Regards,

It is a good question.  Here is my suggestion.  The basic process I use is to make my own templates for whatever size and orientation I want and then save them.  When I want to start a new sheet I just copy the template and then open it up and begin.

I suppose you could also save as a schematic template file which is a *.SchDot option in the save-as command.

To make your own, open one of the existing templates that is closest to what you want. The default template is in the File >System preferences menu pop-up. Pick one that matches the size and orientation you want.  Then make a new schematic.

If you don't like the default title block...right click on the background and choose options> sheet. Unselect the Show Template Graphics box.  On at least some of the templates that leaves just the border.  Or it might by the Title Block check box. It depends on the template. Now draw your own title box, add in text, etc.  For text you can use special strings that begin with the = character.  These change with the Document Options > Parameters tab.

For your logo, just place in graphics.

Do the same thing if you want to add in a revision block and maybe notes such as proprietary warnings.

Save someplace as a schematic that you begin with.  Or you can save it as a template style and set as default for future use.

I usually start a new sheet from a saved default schematic instead of a template because I put notes like PRELIMINARY or REVIEW COPY right on the page. I also put a default proprietary and confidential notice block that I want to edit as needed.  If I put those in the template I don't think I would be able to change them when they are promoted to the schematic.  Maybe there is a way but I do what works for me.

    Thomas.

Thank you very much for quick and detailed information how to do it. I created my own table by re-using some of the templates. One last point which you can maybe you know is how to align the text inside the table so when I move the description how to move the area where I am inserting the text from Right Click - > Document Option -> Parameters ?

Because what I observed is if I move the descriptions for example Date: ( Black font ) and then I typed the Time from Doc Options - Parameters ( Blue ) they are misaligned. How to prevent to happen maybe you know.

Thank you very much in advance

When you insert a text string (regardless of if it is using a special string such as from document parameters) you can view its properties (right click > properties) and choose the alignment and orientation.

    Peter,

Thank you very much, however the problem is the following: When I open the template some of the information are available to edit but some of them like Title / Number / Revision Sheet not. When you fill the parameters in schematic they are automoatically filled the areas however I cannot edit the location in template

    image

    See above.

My question is: How to make visible the filed after Number: in order to adjust the position in the frame?

    Thanks a lot

    Jacek

If I understand correctly you will need to edit the template and place a text string, e.g. add =Title to where you want the title text to appear.

There is actually a library of title blocks.  You can open as a schematic library and add them to your sheet or modify and make new ones. I found mine in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Altium\CS\Templates with a file name of Schematic Title Blocks.SchLib.

This may show you examples of how to set these up.  Once placed on the sheet you can move the text strings around.  You should be able to make similar revision blocks as desired for different sheet sizes.
