Create a library from component in another project.

I have a project that was made by someone who talked us into using circuit studio, and then disappeared off the face of the planet.  I am trying to learn circuit studio now, and I would like to use the components that he made in another project.

Can someone please explain how I can do this?

    Hi David. Do you have the library files for the project - these might be *.IntLib, *.SchLib and *.PcbLib?

    Hi Peter, thanks for the reply.

     

    No, unfortunately it looks like the missing EE gave us the project files, but it looks like he did not include the libraries he created for the project.  When I go to View > Libraries it looks like I only have some default libraries.   



    I thought that I could could create new library files, and copy and paste individual components from the schematic and pcb files into new library files... I am able to do this with the PCB element of a part but not the schematic element. 

    I was hoping we didn't have to recreate each part that he made for us.  Any advice? image

    Worth checking the actual files/zip etc that you were given (using Windows and not CS) - look for any *.IntLib *.SchLib and *.PcbLib files - these are all libraries but may not show up in the library list unless they have been added to the project or CS is told of their location.

    JFYI - Searched all files.  Not there.

    It sounds like a coworker is having a little luck copying the PCB component and pairing it with a new schematic component.  I suppose this is a decent solution.  It just seems strange to me that we can't create a library from existing components in a project when all the data for the relationships between schematic and pcb components already exist in the project.

    It is possible from the PCB to create a library, see this knowledge base article on how to use Design > Make PCB Library.

    CircuitStudio Hidden Commands

     

    For schematics there is no single command but you can certainly copy and paste into your own library (assuming the original components were not from the Altium Vault). The data relationship between the schematic symbols and PCB footprints should not be lost - essentially the symbol contains the footprint name (can be more than one).
