a better way to get emages of schematics out of CS?

Currently if i want to have an image of a diagram I copy the diagram and poste ito an image editor. But I see that the resolution is poor and for example a box with border has 2 thick border lines and 2 thin ones or other combinations down to missing border lines. Is there a better way to do this?

    Hi Simon,

For inserting schematics into documentation (MS Word) I use this process to get nice sharp vector graphics:

Export schematic PDF from CS as usual.

Run the vector graphics program 'Inkscape' (free, open source)

Select File>Import and select the PDF schematic

The schematic will be imported as one 'grouped' object. Select it then Object>Ungroup several times to separate all the pieces.

Delete any bits you don't want, e.g. background colour, drawing frame etc.

Resize the page to your drawing objects: File>Document Properties>Page>Resize page to content

File>Save a Copy and select file format as EMF format

In Word, insert Picture, select EMF file.

It only takes a couple of minutes, if you have used Inkscape before.

BTW I find GIMP and Inkscape to be excellent tools and just knowing the basics has been so useful...for labels, documentation diagrams, etc.

    Rgds,

Ah, that sounds like a plan. but how do you get a schematic to export in PDF? I have to use the microsoft windows 10 PDF printer because the export schematic bit of CS never works. It always only partially covers the page even though the PDF and schematic are A4. Attemps at getting it to scale were fruitless.

Project Toolbar > Generate Outputs > Schematic Prints (In Page Setup select Scale Mode : Fit Document)

The PDF is saved in the "Default Configuration" folder (in the CS project folder)

BTW: PDF page order is determined by the "SheetNumber" property of Document Options (on Project toolbar)

Yea, I usually get a schematic A5 size on an A4 sheet.
