Read this Keysight article published in Electronic Design to learn the specifics of charging and discharging steps of a cell charger/discharger, and how to achieve regulation via feedback. Finally, you will be introduced to the 4-wire connection to the cell.
Be able to understand the basics of charging and discharging circuits for lithium-ion battery cells is key to proper contacting system design as well as successful manufacturing and testing of cells.
The world is getting smaller. So is technology. We’re in an age of engineering marvels, surrounded by technology enabling constant connection and convenience. Yet by 2050, a lot is expected to change on our world. Despite the growth of sustainable technologies around the planet, carbon emissions keep raising. This put us at risk.
The world needs innovators with great ideas, new perspectives, who can dare to imagine how we can use smart sensors and artificial Intelligence (AI) decision making to help business, communities, and countries achieve carbon neutrality and stop global warming.
Keysight Technologies is looking for the next generation of technical innovators who think big about small things. If you are that one, then make your university team, come up with a big idea and enter this competition. Compete and win up to $30,000 in prizes for your team and your school. The challenge is: to design and secure an IoT device or network of devices to monitor carbon emissions in corporate and community environments.
The submission period for entries closes on June 6, 2022 June. This year, to encourage more women to follow STEM careers, Keysight is asking that all teams are women-lead and have at least equal representation of female students compared to male students on each team.
The top five finalists will receive a $2,500 (USD) stipend to build their prototypes and will compete against one another at a virtual, final competition, that is going to be in September 2022. The top three winning teams will receive $30,000, $25,000, and $20,000 (USD) cash prizes, respectively, along with $10,000 (USD) worth of Keysight equipment for their school. All students on the top three winning teams will also receive informational interviews with Keysight for potential internship and job opportunities, depending on grade level.

Heart disease, or cardiovascular disease continues to be a major health problem.
And while many cases can be treated via lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise; in other cases, pharmaceutical approaches are useful.
There is also a growing trend toward the use of implanted medical devices to treat patients with cardiovascular diseases.
Implanted medical devices run on battery power, and in these cases a depleted battery can mean the difference between life and death.
