KiCAD 8: RX23E-B kit - serial comms schematic

I'm building a PCB for Renesas' RX23E-B microcontroller. In this post: the UART / serial communications design

I've taken over the design of the Renesas Solution Starter Kit for RX23E-B, without the FTDI serial-to-USB.

I'm not sure yet if I will keep the same uart peripheral. It shares its pins with the lcd segment outputs. And I may want to use those too. But if I change the uart, I can't reuse the Renesas out-of-box software ...

progress:

the crossed out resistors are flagged as Do Not Populate

The net labels suppress an error for: same pin connected to multiple nets.

I still get a warning, because the bus label shouts over the net label, ...

I started the exercise. Meanwhile, learning the BUS functionality in KiCAD. It changed from a "dumb line" in KiCAD 4 and lower, to a structural concept.

One idea could be to stick a flat-flex connector footprint on the board, so that the problem is pushed away to another day : )

That's what Renesas did.

Maybe I do the same, with the same footprint ...

Part of the RX23E-B starter kit is a patch bay, where you can select the intended function with 0R resistors
