Congratulations to , aka Lady Ada, for being name named Entrepreneur Magazine’s Entrepreneur of 2012!


I can't think of someone more deserving, and I'm sure many of my fellow element14 Community members feel the same way.  I really admire Limor and the company she founded, Adafruit Industries, for being committed to making cool products for makers of all ages and skill levels.  As a strong advocate of Open Source Hardware, Adafruit also makes their designs and code available for everyone to learn from and even improve upon.  They also have an outstanding collection of electronics tutorials and videos.

 

I was thrilled when element14 started carrying Adafruit’s accessories for Raspberry Pi.  I wrote about some of the cool projects you can make with Adafruit and the Raspberry Pi.  And I'm excited to have learned that there will be three new Adafruit products for the Pi coming to element14 in January.

       sparhopper here, and I must take a moment of your time to tell you that I just discovered the Arduino & Raspberry π, and hence, Adafruit & Element14 at the beginning of December 2012. Since then I have practically started over in my approach to life. Being 'Alternatively Abled', at home (often in pain), yet having access to the Internet, a drive for Science & Community, Technology & Invention, and a desire to learn… I have been unable (until only recently), to apply my desires and abilities in a creative, community based and possibly 'helpful' direction. Ladyada, I can honestly say, that you deserve every honor you have, and are about to receive, for, you have helped bring technology, creativity (and a way for me not to focus on the pain) and the availability for simple and useful Fun to be put back into the lives of the masses (now that tech has evolved accordingly), but, I can honestly say, you have helped to give direction and a creative outlet to someone who has a lot of time, not a lot of money, a new direction and a new hope for a future I can now help build!.

    I got a sub. to WiredTmRegistered, and I am going to automate my house, stay in contact with my Girlfriend more easily, track my cat (so I can see where she disappears to at night) on my computer, build a personal protection drone (Camera mounted only), and enjoy building wearable tech that I have so fallen in love with!
