Back in October of last year I backed a project on Kickstarter - UDOO Key: The Flexible AI Platform, From $4. It was funded in November with delivery starting in December. I pledged $9 plus $9 shipping for a Pro version that included a digital microphone and a 9-axis IMU. The UDOO Key combines an RP2040 with an ESP32 and the developer promised tight integration with an AI platform called Clea. The form factor seems a little awkward (basically a Pico stuck on the end of an ESP32 Dev board), but it seemed that with the microphone and IMU that it would make a great handheld remote control. And it retained the Pico pinout, so you might be able to plug it directly into a Pico design if you had the space and didn't use the pins reserved for the ESP32 interface.
In January they indicated that because of part shortages they had to substitute a 6-axis IMU in place of the 9-axis one. This seemed like an acceptable tradeoff. Later, delivery got slipped into April due to more part availability issues. Then into possibly mid-June. The last update a month ago was that they couldn't provide a target delivery date. I wouldn't have minded so much if they had provided some information about what issues were preventing them from shipping.
I didn't sink a lot of money into this and I still think that it could be a nice product, but I got tired of waiting for something with no target delivery date and no explanation of specifically why it couldn't ship. So, I cancelled my pledge and received a refund. Their target retail price for the Pro version is $24, so $9 was a good price - but it was really about early access and that isn't happening. I hope that they do eventually start shipping for everyone that is sticking with them.
