I've been trying to find a US distributor that had stock of the Pi Pico W since it was released in June. Seems I've only seen them available is in the UK. I generally have reasonable luck finding parts with a Google search, but I don't even find most of the places that it is out of stock. I normally get lower cost dev boards from Adafruit, Sparkfun, Digikey, or Mouser (I've never had luck with newer products on Newark). I realized that I needed to cast the net a little wider. I found some stock available at PiShop.us last week and decided to buy a couple even though I've never bought anything from them before. I'm glad that I did because they sold out pretty quickly. A funny thing that I noticed in searching was that MicroCenter stores in New York (PiShop is in Delaware) had limited stock that you could "Buy in Store". Of course, they are now also sold out.
I received my Pico W's via USPS on Tuesday. Like the regular Picos, these are cut off a reel to save packaging and distribution cost.
I have recently been trying a WizFi360 EVB Pico, but I ran into some issues using the Arduino IDE because it is getting confused by the large number of RP2040 variants that I have installed. I need to go back and do a clean install. It will probably be required for this board also. I might give MicroPython a try since I haven't used that with WiFi yet.
Unfortunately, we are currently doing some renovation of our house which has everything in disarray - so I may need to wait a little longer...
