NO Network with Pi 2

Hi,

I have a to me strange problem and could use some help. I have two raspberry Pi's a model B+ and a model 2. I can hook up the B+ and every thing works just fine but if I connect the model 2 it does not show up in my home network. Like I said the model b+ works fine I can see it from my windows computer and I can add movies and music with no problems. But if I hook up the model 2 I see nothing yet I can connect to the internet using either one. I have them both set to the same IP address and subnet mask on my xfinity router the only difference is the Mac address.I have tried reformatting and reinstalling my Windows computer twice and same thing other pc's like Laptops and I Pads connect fine just not my raspberry Pi model 2.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

               Thanks

                         Russ

And of course, mask any publicly accessible information(though I only see this as an internal machine in most applications). ;-)

First of all, are you networking with Ethernet or Wifi-over-USB?  The answer to this question will tell us which config files to look at.

What networking products are you using with the 2 Pis?

Please execute `cat /etc/network/interfaces` and post the output to this thread.

    Hello,

with the very few information that you have provided, I think it is almost probable depending by software than hardware. Please make a couple of simple troubleshooting, just to be sure of the scenario.

    • When you connect the ethernet cable, do you see the yellow led just on the network plug lighten ?
    • Please execute the following command and post the result:

    $>iptables

    $>ping -c 5 www.google.com

    $>ping -c 5 8.8.8.8

Then, please send the content of the file /etc/network/interfaces

    Thank you.

Please do this command on both B+ and model 2:

    ifconfig

    and post results here.

Also check if you have Samba installed and enabled on both correctly.
