...

Aug 21 16:59:32 Pi_3B kernel: [ 2119.713227] usb 1-1.1-port2: over-current change

Aug 21 16:59:32 Pi_3B kernel: [ 2119.903231] usb 1-1-port2: over-current change

Aug 21 16:59:32 Pi_3B kernel: [ 2119.953231] usb 1-1.1-port3: over-current change

Aug 21 16:59:33 Pi_3B kernel: [ 2120.143234] usb 1-1-port3: over-current change

Aug 21 16:59:33 Pi_3B kernel: [ 2120.193233] usb 1-1.1-port2: over-current change

Aug 21 16:59:33 Pi_3B kernel: [ 2120.393236] usb 1-1-port4: over-current change

Aug 21 16:59:33 Pi_3B kernel: [ 2120.433232] usb 1-1.1-port3: over-current change

Aug 21 16:59:33 Pi_3B kernel: [ 2120.633236] usb 1-1-port2: over-current change

...

    Hi Shabaz,

I'm using the GS950/8POE model number , you can have some details here https://www.alliedtelesis.com/products/switches/gs9508poe

The whole RaspberryPi was overheating i think because the temperature was given by the Pi itself (/opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd measure_temp).

I had only KB and Mouse connected on USB port.

It seems the problem has disapeared since i update/upgraded the Pi to the last firmware/version of raspbian.

The Pi is working "normaly" now with POE hat.

    Thanks for your help,

    Schhub.

    Hello everyone,

I just received my POE Hat for my 3B +, what a disappointment, it does not seem to work properly (I had been waiting since March).

The Pi does not start each time and when it starts, the LEDs on the keyboard start to flash randomly and the mouse cuts itself just as randomly.

When no USB device is connected it also does not start every time and to top it all it heats "enormously" (more than 60 ° C without any particular application started).

In messages I receive a multitude of alerts like these:

    Aug 21 16:59:33 Pi_3B kernel: [2120.633236] usb 1-1-port2: over-current change

    ...

My switch Allied Telesys meanwhile send me 49V with 15.4W maximum, which should be enough I think.

I do not know if the POE Hat is defective or if they all work so bad, in any case the wait was not worth it :-(

    Hi Hubert,

What particular model number switch are you using? That manufacturer has many different models.

If you're seeing alerts, this means the PoE HAT is generating something to operate the Pi. Which part is overheating?

What USB devices (other than kb+mouse) do you have connected?

A photo of the entire setup may help, in case anything can be visually spotted.

It may be good to disconnect all USB devices except kb+mouse, and get things to a working state first.
