I have a new toy to add to me lovely Pi B+.... I now have a camera, or rather I have a Pi NoIR Camera Board
This camera is not your run of the mill camera though. The hint is in the name; NoIR means "that pictures you take by daylight will look decidedly curious, but it gives you the ability to see in the dark with infrared lighting."(Pi NoIR Camera | Raspberry Pi) I am not aiming to use it as a way of just taking pictures; I am looking at using it as a sensor for my PhD ideas. Saying that though, it will probably useful when my very black dog is in the garden at night and won't come back inside when I want him to .
Here it is plugged into my Pi when in the enclosure from element14.
I wondered what the large slot at the from of the case was for, my son odion suggested that it may be for the camera module. I have a feeling that he was right! Well done Will.
I will get some images, both in the day and at night and post them here to show you all what I can get and I will see what I can do with the picamera python module. picamera — Picamera 1.9 documentation
