Who says you can't have it all? Pi, Pizza Pie, Chocolate Pie and Raspberry Pi were all on the menu last Thursday. That's when we (Newark element14) held our first Google Hangout in Chicago with Illinois Institute of Technology engineering students to celebrate all things Pi. We chowed on pizza and pie, the students answered questions about numeric Pi and more and even volunteered to take a pie in the face to get a Raspberry Pi.

Two engineers from Newark element14 hosted the Hangout and showcased a lot of the cool new accessories available for Raspberry Pi, which you can see above.

    Visit the Pi Accessory group for more info on any of the Raspberry Pi accessory boards mentioned:

    Check out for Adafruit LCD Pi PlateAdafruit LCD Pi Plate:

    And finally here's what I was trying to show right at the very end - blinking an LED connected to the Pi CobblerPi Cobbler with Python:

    $ sudo python

    >>> import RPi.GPIO as GPIO

    >>> GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BCM)

    >>> GPIO.setup(25, GPIO.OUT)

    >>> GPIO.output(25, GPIO.HIGH)

    image

    This will turn on the LED which is connected to pin 25 on the Adafruit the Pi CobblerPi Cobbler (on the breadboard).

    Adafruit's LED Gmail notifier is a good example of how you can use the Pi CobblerPi Cobbler to control the breadboard LED based on the value of returned by an RSS feed: http://learn.adafruit.com/raspberry-pi-e-mail-notifier-using-leds/overview
