Pi will not boot up.

I turned on my unit just now for the first time and I can not get it to work. I have 4.8 volts on the unit and the red led is lit. The green led does NOT flash. I am using an SD card from Wal Mart. I downloaded Debian. The SD card shows it has two files on it. One large and one small. Any help would be appreciated. jimmy

Hi Jimmy

You need to download a program called Win32DiskImager i think the text is a hyperlink anyway run this on your computer. it'll come up with a small window. Click the little folder button and select the iso file called debian6-19-04-2012 (the big file) click "ok".
select the drive your SD card in on (F: I think) then click "Write" After the program has finished (about 2mins) eject the SD card and place it into your Pi and turn it on..

Are you sure that you have added the debian image to the SD card correctly?? there should be more than 2 files on the SD card when done.

You cannot simply drag the image file onto the card.

Double check that the SD Card is inserted fully. It might seem as though it is inserted but I've found the presence detect switch is not that sensitive, and a firm but gentle push is required to get the card recognised.

Also visually check to make sure there is no obvious solder pads not soldered.
