Pi will not boot up.

I turned on my unit just now for the first time and I can not get it to work. I have 4.8 volts on the unit and the red led is lit. The green led does NOT flash. I am using an SD card from Wal Mart. I downloaded Debian. The SD card shows it has two files on it. One large and one small. Any help would be appreciated. jimmy

    Dear William and others

    Thanks for the advice

I am pleased to say that my boot problem has been solved by changing to the Wheeze Beta version of the operating system

When I had the problem I was using the "official" squeeze version of the debian OS

So my suggestion to anyone with a boot problem where boot does start but will not complete is to try the Wheeze Beta version of the OS

For the record my SD card is an 8GB SANDISK bought from Element14

I am using a small Cherry keyboard G84-4100

    A Lenovo optical mouse

    A PSU from Maplin

And a HDMI to DVI adapter into an NEC monitor

    Regards Donald  (DeeKay)

The most likely cause of these problems is a incompatible SD Card. There is considerable talk on this topic on the Raspberry Pi forum at raspberrypi.org. Not all SD Cards are the same unfortunately.

I have a Kingston 2GB card that doesn't work, and a no name MicroSD card that does. It is a bit pot-luck I'm afraid.

    Can you help

My Raspberry PI does start the boot sequence

Power red light is bright, OK LED flashes green during boot up

Boot sequence seems to recognise keyboard and optical USB Mouse

    Key presses appear on screen

Eventually boot up sequence gets to the following message

mmc0:  Timeout waiting for hardware interrupt

This message keeps on repeating in a wait for ever loop

    Any ideas

    DeeKay
