A Raspberry PI Zero W Bluetooth
My wife liked my Bluetooth enabled speaker, and rather than buying another one I decided to build one for myself.
Looking in my collection of stuff, I found the following useful items:
Raspberry Pi Zero W
Pimoroni pHAT DAC
2x40 pins
3.5 mm male to male cable
8GB microSDHC
A quick search of the internet found a helpful blog site called "Page Fault Blog" authored by Sami Pietikäinen.
Sami, provides instructions on constructing a Bluetooth receiver that boots up in under 5 seconds using a YOCTO created image for the Raspberry Zero W.
The author had a ready-to-flash Linux image with all the necessary Bluetooth and DAC configurations setup, or you could follow his instructions to build the image yourself.
How to use
① Open the Bluetooth function of your device that outputs Bluetooth audio stream.
② Search and pair with the module named “RPi-DAC”.
③ After a successful connection, the device should begin to stream audio to the "Raspberry PI Zero W Bluetooth" Unit.
I had the Bluetooth Receiver built and working in under 15 minutes.
Created a 3d printed case for the item.
