Raspberry pi 2 doesn't boot

I've bought the new raspberry pie 2 and have installed noobs on it as is given on the pi community. But when I plug the device on, it displays a splash screen and some text after which the display shuts. I had noobs version 1.4.0 then. I downloaded and installed noobs version 1.4.1, after which the text panel shows the box where we can select the OS to be installed but crashes after that. I can't figure out the problem. Also, this is my first experience with the raspberry pi.

Try a higher amperage charger. Not a ridiculous amount, just 2-3 amps

    Thanks for your input.

So the thing is that I'm using an hdmi to vga converter since I don't have an hdmi input to any monitor. I've changed the power supply and also updated noobs to 1.4.1. I tried searching for a solution on all forums which mentioned that the config.txt file needs to be edited. But since an OS hasn't been installed yet, I'm unable to find the file.

Really! I had the same problem then tried just to be sure and discovered that low power makes some strange jokes expecially at the boot.

Just a note: when you boot, the symptoms of low power problems are evidentiated by the power led and data transfer led (red and green led near the USB connector. As the PI starts both are bright then red tend to dim (or going off) of the red remain on and green led goes very low.

I have also discovered that some USB power supplies declare 2000 mA but then using a too thick USB charger cable as a matter of fact there is too low power reaching the device.

    Enrico
