SmartEdge Gateway external WiFi Antenna

Is there a way to add an external wifi antenna to the smartedge box? I need to mount it in an electrical cabinet and route an antenna out of the box.

    It is possible. There is an extra plastic part that you put between lid and housing. It has a breakout position for an external antenna.

     

    You'll need to solder a SMD little connector on the PCB. The footprint is empty.

    I could not find if you have to add/remove components to switch from PCB antenna to the external.
