Help with assembly of raspberry pi 4

Hello, I bought the canakit raspberry pi 4 starter kit and the neego raspberry pi 4 complete kit. I am trying to help my son who is having difficulties to assemble either (black screen or just not powering up). Are there video resources that will help me to be able to help him with the assembly? thank you in advance.

Also, in addition to what Sean and Mike posted, could you tell us what the ACT light (green one next to red power light) is doing? Blinking patterns that repeat are error codes.

Thanks all for your helpful suggestions. The first fix was the SD card and before I had seen your suggestions we downloaded NOOBs into the SD card and the system initiated a download of raspbian. Once it successfully installed, I clicked on OK expecting the system to reboot but once it did it resulted in a gray screen. @Mike Moore, I will try your suggestions tomorrow. Thanks again.

I recommend the following resource for novice Pi users. https://magpi.raspberrypi.org/books/beginners-guide-4th-ed Unfortunately for you, I am a reader more than a watcher of videos so you get a book reference rather than a picture show.

The resources that have chimed in are pretty knowledgeable and no doubt will get you sighted in. There are a number of versions of this book depending on the Pi model you have. The pictures I find aid in the understanding of the technical stuff.
