  • Usually the value of desktop PCs drops loads, I would probably have trouble giving away a machine here, even though it may be usable but old.

    Another option is a Pi 3 - by some accounts it is usable as a desktop machine although it is not a compete replacement. By the way computers are changing, and the majority of computers out there in the world are no longer desktop machines, but instead are microcontrollers running machines. Soon they will be communicating to each other and doing more. That would be an area to investigate if you're interested.

    Agreed I have 12 or so 3GHZ PCs which all work with an OS and when some one said yeah I need a PC for this then I said you can have one ...Do they want it nah ... they seem to want to rather moan about not getting a new one  rather than taking and using the one that is offerered for NIx ... nI think many have "uses" or "projects" for such kit then when the opotunity rises to do the prommised thing they realise the start of their side ofthe bargain starts image
