Probably better off with a 128GB USB stick the current draw will be much less and it will be smaller and I assume more rugged.
Yes I know the drive has higher capacity but after 128GB or so you may be better off getting your data off to somereal computer on the network rather than exposed on the RPI

Yes, because we all know computers on networks never ever "expose" data like the Raspberry Pi (?).
