What's Your Pi Plan??

Hi!

Just curious about what people were planning on using their Raspberry Pi's for once they started getting them!??

Current plan- SFF Media PC / NAS etc mounted onto the VESA on the back of my TV

Later plan- Replace car stereo etc with RPi

Probably not the most origional use there but still, godda start somewhere!

another thing.... I want one just to report on my 75 year old father inlaw just to know he is ok. Ping reports every time the fridge light goes on,

forgot to say the link below is for a HD 30fps camera board that has onboard microSD storage 32gb. It can be started/stoped using the GPIO pins. It also has a composite feed you can plug into the Rpi too for tracking or triggering the camera/ Looks perfect.

Very interesting camera.... except for the price. If it drops a factor of 5 in price I'd buy one. I guess I'll have to wait a few months....

Yeah it seems expensive for a camera module (I don't think the price will drop by much) I just did some research the HackHD is £109 the contour plus is £250 - £300 and the goPro is £150 - £200 the two latter are consumer models and would require hacking anyway. The HackHD is better quality (see comparison link below). Maybe the manufacture cost of the HD CCD chip is the reason?? I have seen HD webcams for £30 though I doubt they would compare with the quality of any of the cameras here. If you know of a better camera or cheaper camera for any projects I would love to hear, cos I want one!!!
