Adafruit planning “Pi Plates” ala Arduino shields

Exciting post today from one of my favorite companies, Adafruit Industries:

Adafruit experimenting with “Pi Plates” for Raspberry Pi - “Shields” for the Raspberry Pi

http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2012/03/14/adafruit-experimenting-with-pi-plates-for-raspberry_pi-shields-for-the-raspberry-pi/

A lot of folks are asking what and if we’re going to do with the Raspberry Pi. Since today is Pi day we can share some of our plans and experiments – we have a series “Pi Plates” for Raspberry Pi - “Shields” for the Raspberry Pi. Right now no one has shipping hardware so like everyone else we are waiting to get the read hardware to test our designs. We have a few ready to go based on the information out there and will have more later (and updated) once we test.

Cheers,

Drew

Fans of Adafruit Industries and Ladyada might be interested in this bit in yesterday's New York Times showing the correlation between desk clutter and creativity: There’s a Method to My Desk’s Madness.

There's a bit where she identifies her "favorite object" as her oscilloscope: "You use it to measure electrical signals."  I suspect Ladyada said a lot more about what a 'scope does, but that's the part the interviewer understood and had room for in the article.  IMO saying "you use it to measure electrical signals" is kind of like saying that you use an Indy 500 racer "to get from one place to another".  A 'sillyscope is a freaking time machine, for crying out loud.  You use it to observe things you cannot sense, that take place in lengths of time orders of magnitude smaller that what your brain can process directly.  Does that help, Mr. Lewine?

Just to give Mr Lewine the benefit of the doubt, there might have been a sub-editor betwixt the writer and the final published text.
