TTY Into Raspberry Pi Via USB

I know that I can take an Arduino programmer and plug it into my computer, then connect the RX/TX to serial of the pi.   I believe that will work.

Im also thinking that if I used two of the programmers, one connect to the pi usb and the other a PC usb, that I could SSH in that way as well and leave the serial port free.

What would be nicer, if there is a way using only the USB ports and no serial converters.  I would need an adapter since they are both host usb but just curious.

Id like to work on projects at work during lunch but they have blocked SSH at the protocol level so a change in ports wont work.   I could just bring the pi to work but having two programmers connected up makes it kind of a mess...

just plugging the USB ports together would make it much easier!

Ideas?
