Raspberry Pi originally stated to arrive in 1 week is now changed to 4 weeks?

Well im very confused, after people tweeting they have started to have their raspberry pis arrive I tought that farnell must be close to shipping mine out depending that the email I received said that it was due in an week (Week commencing 23/4/12) after ordering on the 29th of feb.

After receiving an reply from farnell I have been told it is now going to take another 4 weeks until I receive one but I still have not had an new status or acknowledgement of order updates with any new set date.

Has anyone else had this?

Thanks - Ryan

    Hi Ryan,

As I understand it, 2000 devices have been made, Around 1400 of these have been distributed to Farnell and RS to send out, hence the tweets that people are receiving them.

There should still be around 8,000 out of the first batch of 10,000 that are unaccounted for, and I have made a posting on the RasPi forum asking what is happening with these. The last response was that neither Liz (RasPi Foundation), who said that this batch should be with Farnell / RS by the middle of this week or the Farnell Representative posting on the RasPi website (Mid May for the next batch) actually knew what was correct and Liz said that she would find out.

As yet, there is nothing, but the four weeks you mention does tie in broadly with the comments made by the Farnell person. However, this seems to refer to a Farnell made batch rather than part of the original 10,000, so at the moment, chaos reigns !

Here' s link to the thread on the RasPi forum: http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/general-discussion/am-i-missing-something/page-3

    Hope this helps.

    Steve
