Delivery Update not recieved??

Former Member
Former Member over 13 years ago

I looked but could not see another topic on this.  I also could not find a search bar to search to see if topics already exist.

I do get some Newark / Element 14 e-mails, so they are not blocked I also check my spam folder daily, so not there either.

I have still yet to revive a shipping date, and I ordered before April 18th, so I should have received a shipping date weeks ago by what certain post have said.

I have seen by end of June has been said.

Butttttt here is the thing, I am moving June 15, and the place I am moving to (for only 3 months) I cannot change my address to the new 3-month place.

What this means is if I do not get it on or before June 15th, 2012.  I will have to either cancel my order, or wait until September to have it shipped to my new living address.

I have tried to put a post on the RPI site in hope Liz or Jenny there can respond, and even e-mailed someone (I will be polite and not mention his or her name here directly).

I have still yet to get any response from anybody as to when my shipping date is.

I am very frustrated by now, and honestly quite disappointed in the level of customer service and professionalism from a company that quite honestly should have been far more prepared for such a demand of a device priced at this level.

I am hoping to actually here something useful and an official response finally on when my shipping and receiving date should be and that it is before June 14th, 2012.

Thank you,

Paul

I ordered on 4 March, but I didn't get a confirmation e-mail after 27 April.  So sent a polite inquiry to Newark customer service a few days ago and got a reply within a few hours:

    Hello John,

You should receive this [your RasPi] before the end of June, we still have no exact date.  I do apologize, we do not have a list for the orders.  Any further updates will be posted at the link below. Thank you for your patience.

As long as I get it well before European Pi Day 7/22 I'll be happy :-)

    Paul,

Since your order date of March 30 is relatively late in comparison to

most others, I think that even if Farnell were to tell you a delivery date,

it would not be before the end of June.  And there are lots of opportunities

for production hiccups that might delay it beyond June.  So I'd recommend

finding a friend or relative with a permanent address you can use for the

delivery.  Preferably not a techie, or you may never see it.  image

Hopefully we will see an update to the FAQ here soon that will have more

information.  The last version was 2 weeks ago, and normally they update it

more frequently than that.  My guess is they are trying to get the email

notifications out soon, so they can update the FAQ with positive news.

John Beetem notes that they say "we do not have a list for the orders."

I am trying to imagine what they mean by that.  Are the orders on slips of

paper in a box somewhere?   Or are they in a database that doesn't have

a command that will list or sort them?  Or is customer service not allowed to

access the order database?   I have reported on another thread that this

website's sorting algorithm is broken for sorting its members, and they have

been unable to fix that yet, so maybe they have a shortage of IT staff.

Certainly my CS textbooks consider it a solved problem to sort a list

    of up to 10^6 records.

There are some other relevant threads here you may have overlooked,

where you can compare order dates and order numbers:

    Paul,

You may not have seen it, but Jenny Peters replied to you on the RPi.org forum:

"Paul – sorry for the delay – struggling to match answers with the forum posts as the thread has built but due to you by June 17th or hopefully a little earlier"

I realize this doesn't quite meet your June 14 deadline. image
