On the one hand, it's unlikely that people who order may 10th end up getting their 'pi around now. As far as I know, they promised "everybody who ordered before april 18th will get their 'pi before end of june", and then they had that date slip by about a week and told everybody about it. Now they seem to be slipping another week, but not telling anybody about it. So, if  my guessing is correct, this week they are shipping orders done mid april.

On the other hand, they promised to take money when they ship, and you have two hints that they are shipping YOUR 'pi: the note you got and the money being taken.

Farnell has a big contract for their normal packages: Next day delivery for a reduced rate. The big lot of raspberry pi's that they are shipping now are not all going out under that "next day delivery contract". That would be much more expensive. So many people are reporting that they got it through another service than "UPS next day".

In the beginning they had not yet figured out how to send using other services. So those went out with the standard "next day" delivery. On the other hand, I ordered with my business account and maybe that triggers the normal "business shipping" with them. So David got his "next day", but maybe he ordered using a business account like me, or maybe his 'pi shipped when they hadn't figured out the cheaper/slower sending options yet.

So if yours is not delivered after 1 day(*), I would suggest you hold your horses and wait for a 'pi surprise before the week is over... 

(*) It is the 11th today, so it can still be delivered after two days.

Does selecting the "Business" path on export.farnell.com take you into the normal Farnell account orders stream, even when your account is not a business account?  I  think perhaps I should have done that back in April.  Then my order might have been processed through my normal Farnell account, instead of being unlinked to any account at all which is quite bad.

Yes it does.

At least in the UK it was possible to do that and register an account on the spot. The obvious difference is that it's a card account, not a credit account, but that seems to make no difference.

Second, Royal Mail is used in the UK. So will take at least 2 days.

They use both RM and UPS in the UK. It used to be that over a certain value or a certain weight went UPS, recently it seems a bit more random.

However, I find that stuff they send through RM always makes it here next day, and usually before UPS. RM also deliver on Saturday which costs a lot extra from UPS.

Here in NL, they require you to provide your business identification numbers before they let you create an account. As far as I know.

I wonder if there's a way to link a previous non-account Pi order which has already been received to a normal uk.farnell.com account, so that it appears in order history.  Same name, same credit card, so there's no good reason to deny it.  I guess it just depends on whether Farnell processes make that possible.

My  business orders are simply orders for a farnell-item. Nothing else.

The raspberry pi orders seem to be handled competely separate with ORP numbers that do not in any way relate to orders in the normal farnell systems. ORP = Order for Rasberry Pi ?

No Roger, I don't have a Business Account and I have never ordered from Farnell/Elemeny14 before.

What happened in my case is way that back on 7th March when I was having trouble with their website (like a lot of others!) I actually phoned their Sales Dept., here in the UK, and spoke to a very nice lady who opened an account for there and then, and placed an order for one Raspi on to it for me.

Although (due to the low value of the order) they initially added a 'Handling Charge' of £5.95, this was subsequently removed by a Supervisor after I queried it with them.

At that time my Order Confirmation showed an estimated delivery date of w/c 4th June 2012.

Baraing mind that theat hadn't then fitted the wrong network port, or had to wait for certification, I reckon that I did eventually receive it on 12th June wasn't actually bad going at all!

I am sure that the fact it had been ordered under an actual registered account was the reason it was shipped by next day UPS, rather than by 2nd Class Royal Mail.

Perhaps I was just one of the lucky ones though!
