Does anyone know what USB plug power for RaspberryPi?

There must be about a dozen USB Mini connector types out there and this does not seem to be a common connector to use...

I've got 3 types of Mini USB connectors and neither one fits!

You'll need a micro USB connector. A lot of Androids have it, Samsungs and HTCs.

The power connector that you plug into the Pi has to be a micro-USB male connector (ie. plug).  An example is shown on the far left of this Wikipedia picture:

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d6/Usb_connectors.JPG/800px-Usb_connectors.JPG

    From http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d6/Usb_connectors.JPG/800px-Usb_connectors.JPG , see also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Usb_connectors.JPG , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus

The majority of cellphone chargers have a flying lead that terminates in such a micro-USB connector, and are therefore physically compatible with the Pi.  However, that is not true of all cellphone chargers, and nor does it mean that all cellphone chargers terminating in a micro-USB male connector are compatible with the Pi.  One important consideration is that they need to be able to deliver roughly 700mA (0.7 A) within the rated +5V USB supply voltage limits, and it is not uncommon that they cannot do so.

If you are inexperienced in electronics or computers, it's probably best to check the information at the eLinux.org Pi site -- http://elinux.org/RaspberryPiBoard -- and pick a charger from among those that other people have found to work.

The Androids are, yes. But if you're worried, don't be. If they don't fit, you won't get them fitting either. Just be sure it powers around 700 mA (0.7A), or even better, around 1A (that way you'll be sure it can handle everything) at 5 volts.

Also note that Amperes can't really break your Pi. See it as... cookies. 1A compared against 0.7A means you'll give your Pi more cookies, but it'll always eat just the right amount of cookies. But giving more than 5 volts (or less) will make the cookies... "poisoned".

    Good luck!

A quick google of "raspberry pi accessories element 14" reveals http://uk.farnell.com/raspberry-pi-accessories?CMP=KNC-GUK-***-GEN-SUP-RASPBERRY-PERIPHERALS as the top hit, if in UK.  An equivalent link should appear for other locations.

On that page I see a UK charger http://uk.farnell.com/pro-power/mwusbuk1-black/adaptor-usb-to-uk-black/dp/2100374 and a micro-USB cable http://uk.farnell.com/pro-signal/rpusb1-8/cable-usb-a-m-micro-b-m-1-8m/dp/2115733 which would seem to fit the bill.  I've not tried them myself, but they seem to have appropriate specs and a good price.  But don't order a UK charger if not in the UK, obviously.

    Morgaine.
