tightvnc at start-up ?

How do I enable tightvnc at start-up without having to type te command each time and log-in? What file do I add to? is it the /etc/modules file? If so, what do I add?

Normally when I start a tightvnc server session, it loads the GUI on the viewer. Can I change this aswell?

This is what I normally type: "vncserver :1 -geometry 1280x800 -depth 24"

On Debian, you add a command at the bottom of /etc/rc.local, but ABOVE the exit command on the final line.
What you need to add is:

su -c "vncserver :1 -geometry 1280x800 -depth 24" root

That _should_ start it up before the login prompt so you can use a VNC viewer to get into it.

I _think_ it's su. If that doesn't work, try sudo instead

That looks good, But, I can't find the double inverted comma's "[text]" On my keyboard.
That key is the # key and I can't find the " key.
Can you help fix this? I don't know what keyboard type I have. It has a $ sign on number 4.

it seems that you have a US keyboard you may have to change the keymap.

I got the vnc to start on start-up.

thank you.

but I can not change the keyboard map. What is the command to get the "box" that first comes onto the screen the first time you start-up raspbian? Then I can fix this issue.

It didn't want to run the configure keyboard section.:

There was an error running do_configure_keyboard.
