Shipping lead times

Preordered on 2012-07-02 through the 'business' route and was given a estimated delivery date of W/C 2012-09-03.

Email this AM says it's shipped today. Two weeks and a day lead time. I don't want to read too much into that, but there has to be at least some suggestion there that the 5 weeks on the web page is a conservative estimate.

I know of another one ordered via the consumer route (ORPxxx number) one day later on the 3rd July, so it'll be interesting to find out when that one ships.

BTW, I'm in the UK, so I wouldn't read too much into this for anyone not in the UK either.

Oh, and nothing on the one ordered from RS on the 1st July which said 'dispatch within 12 weeks'...

     * morgaine imagines a warehouse full of little gnomes frantically carving up a large pi and stuffing slices into little boxes.

    @fx_: Gratz. The best thing about the Pi is no longer waiting to receive it. image

    Here's what arrived in the post today. Packaged up in such a way that it nicely fits through your letterbox, so shouldn't be any worries about missing it if you're not home.

    At a guess they'll be getting them put into the little boxes at the factory.  They look suspiciously like the ones from the Cambridge Raspberry Jam photos too.

    Only obvious difference in the Pi itself is that the CE and FCC logos are now part of the silk screen

    OMG, under 3 weeks.

    Element 14 / Farnell +1000 ... well done people, you're getting there. image

    I feel that my wait for Pi to be a normal ex-stock Farnell product for next-day delivery is not that far from ending.  Credit card awaits in expectation. image

    @selsinork

    Odd, I ordered 1 pi on the 15th of July and have an expected ship date of the 24th, no email yet. The status was "received" yesterday, now it is "Back Order" again.

    On second thought, why are they shipping new orders so quickly with old orders still pending?

    that's a very good question...  what country are you in ?   I'm in the uk and I have a suspicion that either uk orders or perhaps just business orders are getting shipped first. There's nothing to back up that suspicion, but there are too many people posting that have been waiting for months.

    That is a very good assumption. I live in the US so that must be why. Anyone from the UK care to ship me one? image

    Farnell UK is an extremely efficient operation.  At this rate of improvement, UK Pis will soon be delivered the day before you order. image
