Ordered 3rdFeb - not delivered - now find order cancelled without any communication

I ordered my RPi on Feb 3rd - confirmed by Farell same day.

Got a couple of emals announcing delays - last one on Apil 27th said:

 

Having successfully passed its CE compliance testing, we can now confirm that your Raspberry Pi will be delivered in the week commencing 04/06/2012.

 

After that - silence.

 

Yesterday I checked the status of my order - and found it was cancelled!

No explanation, no alert to me by email, text or phone call.

 

I've been in the electronics biz 30 years. Dealt with Farnell in my College days as I happens.

 

Never have I cancelled a customer order order without alerting them, discussing it, sorting out whatever problem existed.

 

So what gives, Farnell? Run out of my size in the promised T-shirt or something??

  • How did you order on Feb 3rd if the boards were announced available for purchase on the 29th ?

    image you're right! My bad - it was March 3rd when I ordered or at least when I got the confirmation! As far as I recall, I ordered during the Day of the Madness or as soon as the Farnell website got unclogged.

     

    I was in a temper (still am.....) so didn't check my post thoroughly.

    I think there is some disconnection between different sites at Farnell, after trying for five hours I was able to place my order in the US with Newark/Element14, somebody twitted the right part number to use and I placed an order for two units.

     

    Element14 honored my order but shipped one first that arrived 5/31 and the second one arrived 6/8.

     

    I also received two invitations from Allied/RS in May to place and order which I ignored.

     

    I understand your frustration, the distributors obviously have a share of responsability but the whole mess originates at the RPF where while people like you have been waiting forever to get one board they sell them on the fly at events like Raspberry Jam (and apparently they didn't sell all the units they had.).

     

    PS. I didn't receive any T-shirt or other perks.
