   Got this mail:

 

Dear customer,

We are sending you this message to update you on delivery of your Raspberry Pi.

 

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances causing a delay in the supply chain, we can't send your order just yet, but it will be despatched the week commencing 02/07/2012. You will receive a confirmation email prior to your Raspberry Pi being shipped.

 

We know that you have already been supremely patient, but please bear with us for a little while longer. We are sure that the wait will have been worth it once you can experience the limitless computing potential and enjoyment the Raspberry Pi offers.

the 20th of June,  since then.... nothing.

Anybody with the same issue? How to solve this?

  • I was in the same situation, and contacted Farnell on July 10th. I was then told that the credit card I had used when ordering had expired. I phoned them to give the details of the new card, and on the 14th I got an email saying that the RaspberryPi had been shipped.

     

    If we assume that credit cards expire three years after they have been issued (which is the case for me, at least), and also that people would have to wait for three months for their order to be filled (again, the case for me), you would get something like 8% of all orders being delayed for this reason.

     

    This estimate may not be very accurate, but the percentage of buyers affected by credit card expiry is so high that there is absolutely no excuse for Farnell not being able to figure out a way to handle this situation.

    Just a note to those waiting, I ordered my Pi on May 4, with an original delivery date of Aug 16, when I checked my order status last week it said it would ship by July 23, but it arrived today (July 18) and when I went to check my email there were a couple saying it had been shipped yesterday. This was through Newark Canada, so I can only surmise that they now are just about fulfilled in their orders. Unlike many I knew when I ordered there would be a considerable wait but it appears for that they have now got sufficient to fulfill commitments especially as they are now allowing more than one to be placed. Now all I have to do is assemble all the other bits and see what it looks like after I get it booted. I just downloaded the Raspdebian image last night in preparation!

    I received the credit card declined email -after- I had complained to customer service. There was nothing wrong with my card, it hadn't changed during the order process, it was used successfuly to purchase my board the same day. So don't expect Farnell to get this right. In many cases they have, in lots of others they have just left customers in the dark. I'm still waiting for delivery after ordering on the 3rd of April.
