Having setup ssh and a vpn and apache and had the pi nicely not doing a great deal for a while I thought it would be fun to try something a little more creative.
I decided to install php. Simple I thought, connecting via ssh from a loaction the other side of town, something like apt-get install php5 should do the trick.
It all seemed to go well until it hung up trying to restart apache. Finally it bombed out of that with some error. I tried a reboot, it refused to do that, claiming 'segmentation fault'. Then after a while the connection dropped and I had to wait until I got home to investigate.
I tried pulling the power, nothing, the red pwr light comes on but nothing else. I tried re-imaging the SD card. Same, red light nothing else. I tried a different image, again nothing.
So the question is, have I destroyed the Pi? Or the SD card? Is that even possible over a remote connection?
Unfortunately I don't have another SD card to try at the moment, although the one I had seemed to work ok in the PC - well it did fail to rewrite the image the first time until I pulled it out of the writer and put it back in, I put that down to a poor connection. Could the pi have corrupted the card so badly that it won't work even after two re-images?
