I have just assembled the Pi and on connection only the red indicator is lighting up. The green has not flashed. The card I purchased had the OS already burnt on which came from the UK..Have taken it OUT  and started again several times but still not working.Be grateful for any suggestions especially as this is the first one in our area in Qld. G'day Luc,

    When I place the card in a Windows system I get the following:

    'you need to format the disk in drive I: before you can use it'

    Then upon cancelling that the following message appears;

    ' The volume does not contain a recognised file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted'

    Thus I am unable to see what is on the card.

    No green light whatsoever appears in any shape or form!!!

    Thanks for your comment.

    John

    Some older cardreaders can't handle sd(hc) cards. Usually everything with a size bigger than 2Gig is SDHC. There are exceptions, but you hardly find them on the market.

    There exist a program for pc called winhex that is able to access an usb drive on a very low level (sector based)

    You can download a free version of it. If that program is unable to access the sd(hc) card, it's either a bad card or your cardreader is not up to the job. Most computer shops sell low cost sd(hc) cardreaders.

    The message from windows that the card needs formatting means that windows can't locate a valid partition on the card. I hope this helps.

    Thanks Luc, Have to go and get the voltage of the charger checked so will have a look for a card reader. A friend has just received his Pi and card but is away for a few weeks. The suppliers are kindly sending me a new card and power supply.

    Cheers   John
