According to the adverts all Raspberry Pi Model B's come with 512Mb SDRAM. Mine is a model B and it only has 256Mb. Does this mean i can send mine back and get a free upgrade only had it three weeks. NOT HAPPY.

Life does that, but sometimes you have to take the plunge, knowing that it will be cheaper later.
Buy another one and donate the old one to someone who might be interested (school or a keen kid).
They aren't very expensive, and there are stocks for overnight delivery (even in AUS/NZ).

Fergus,
Many thanks for your comment, albeit a little abrupt. fine once bitten twice shy. No idea how they do things down under but in the UK we have quite good customer service.
If its broken it goes back whether its been used or not.
Hi Mark,
many thans for your response, expence is relative. Kids can buy there own then if they are so cheap. BIN.
Steve, I hate to be 'one of those people' but in this case you have still got a working Pi (if it isn't then return it as faulty) which is what you bought. It will still do 99% of everything the 512 version will do. Also, keep in mind that the model A (when it is finally released) will still have the 256, which should hopefully mean that the focus of development will still pertain.
Linux, using swap, will still run those bigger applications, although slower.
I have 2 older Pi's and they aren't instantly obsolete, they are still doing the tasks I set them.
If it is truly broken, then return it under the sale of goods act. It can't be classed as broken if it 'only' has 256 Meg Ram.
Steven R,
I don't think he has broken his RPi, I think he just wants a return exchange for a 512mb. I don't think you can exchange a product if it has been openned you don't have the orginal packaging for a brand new one. It might work differently in the UK but the rules will be similar (must be orginal packaging - then it might be ok to exchange.)
I think this should settle it:
Q: I have ordered Raspberry Pi model B (256MB) but instead I have received a Raspberry Pi model B (512MB), is it a mistake in your system? Should I return the product?
A: No, this is not a mistake; we have deliberately sent you Raspberry Pi model B (512MB) with additional RAM at no extra cost. There will have been a note in your parcel informing you that you have received the new Raspberry Pi model B (512MB).
Q: I have received a Raspberry Pi model B (256MB) but the Raspberry Pi foundation has launched the Raspberry Pi model B (512MB) recently. Can I exchange mine for the increased RAM product?
A: No, we will not exchange the Raspberry Pi model B (256MB) for the new Raspberry Pi model B (512MB).
