According to the adverts all Raspberry Pi Model B's come with 512Mb SDRAM. Mine is a model B and it only has 256Mb. Does this mean i can send mine back and get a free upgrade only had it three weeks. NOT HAPPY.

Life does that, but sometimes you have to take the plunge, knowing that it will be cheaper later.
Buy another one and donate the old one to someone who might be interested (school or a keen kid).
They aren't very expensive, and there are stocks for overnight delivery (even in AUS/NZ).

Many thanks for your comment, albeit a little abrupt. fine once bitten twice shy. No idea how they do things down under but in the UK we have quite good customer service.
If its broken it goes back whether its been used or not.
